How do I delegate when no one does it as well as me?

By Ask a Shop OwnerUpdated Leadership

Short answer

Delegate the outcome, not the steps. Tell them what done looks like, then leave them alone for one full attempt.

What kills delegation

Watching over their shoulder. Correcting their method when their outcome would have been fine. Taking it back the first time it isn't perfect. They never get better and you never escape.

The rule

Define the outcome in one sentence. Set the deadline. Tell them when to check in. Then resist intervening unless the customer is at risk. Debrief after, not during.
