What should I ask in a job interview?
Short answer
Behavioral questions about actual past work. Skip the brainteasers and the gotchas.
Three questions that work
'Tell me about a job you were proud of and walk me through it.' 'Tell me about a time you screwed up at work, what happened, what did you do.' 'What would your last boss say is your biggest weakness, and is it true?'
What to listen for
Specifics, not slogans. Ownership, not blame. The person who says 'we' when things went well and 'I' when things went sideways is usually the one you want.
