Pricing psychology that actually works in trades

Some pricing tricks are gimmicks. A few are real.

Anchor before you reveal the price

Customers compare your number to whatever they heard last. Mention a higher comparable first ('Most shops would quote this at $X. We're at $Y.') sets the frame.

Round numbers for big jobs, exact for small

$12,400 feels considered. $12,000 feels guessed. For small tickets, exact numbers ($487) outperform round ($500).

State the daily or monthly equivalent on big jobs

'$18,000 amortized over 10 years of the new roof is $150 a month.' Reframing doesn't change the price; it changes how it lands.
