Lost 8 Google reviews overnight, what happened?
Answered by Ask a Shop Owner ·
Was at 47 reviews yesterday, 39 today. No warning. Are they gone forever?

Google runs periodic filters that pull reviews flagged as suspicious: same IP as the business, review-swap patterns, brand-new accounts, or geographic anomalies. It is automated and almost never reversed.
Do not appeal in bulk. Look at which reviews disappeared. If they were from real customers, ask those customers to re-post from a different network (home wifi vs. shop wifi is a common trigger). If they were from friends or staff, let them stay gone.
The permanent fix is a review request cadence tied to job completion. Text with a direct link the day of, follow-up day three. Reviews earned steadily over months never get filtered.
