What do I say when a customer says my price is too expensive?
Short answer
Don't drop the price. Ask what they're comparing it to and what they were hoping to spend.
Two questions
'Compared to what?' uncovers whether they have a real apples-to-apples quote or a number in their head. 'What were you hoping to spend?' tells you whether you're in the same universe.
Then decide
If the gap is small, walk them through what the price includes that the other one doesn't. If the gap is big, this isn't your customer. Wish them well and move on. You can't win the race to the bottom.
