Should I give discounts?
Short answer
Only in exchange for something: cash up front, off-season scheduling, or a referral. Never just to close.
Why never just to close
A discount given to close trains customers that your first price was inflated. They'll ask again next year. You're also training your team that the price isn't real.
Trade structure for discount
'I can do ten percent off if you pay in full today.' 'I can fit you in next month for that price; this week is full rate.' You give value, they give value. Everyone keeps respect.
