How many ROs per tech per day should I be running?

How do you measure tech productivity in a healthy general repair shop?

The metric is not ticket count, it is hours billed vs hours paid. Target 1.2 to 1.5 for a healthy general repair shop (a tech paid for 40 hours bills 48 to 60 hours of labor). Under 1.0 and you are losing money on that tech.

Ticket count depends on shop mix. A diag-heavy shop might run 3 tickets per tech per day; a maintenance-heavy shop can run 6 to 8. Chase the billed hours metric, not the count.

Post hours billed by tech in the shop weekly. Not as public shaming, as a scoreboard. Techs who can see the number improve the number.
