How do I price residential cleans?

Answered by Ask a Shop Owner ·

Been guessing at prices. Losing money on big houses, overcharging small ones.

Price by time, quoted flat. Walk the house, estimate hours for the crew size you send, multiply by your billing rate ($55 to $75 per person hour depending on market), add a supplies surcharge.

Bench: 2,000 sq ft, standard clean, no pets, 2 cleaners, is 2 hours. That is roughly $220 to $300 for a maintenance clean, $350 to $500 for a first deep clean.

Always charge more for the first deep clean (1.5x to 2x maintenance). Sets the standard, filters out cheap customers, and gives you room to do the work right the first time.
